What is RFID?
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless noncontact use of radio frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data in order to identify product or location of stock.
An RFID system is made up of two parts an integrator (RFID label or tag). In the same way a barcode works the RFID chip has information embedded on to it which matches up to data stored within a database or RFID reader.
One of the most notable differences between RFID labels and tags is that barcodes must be aligned with an optical scanner to work and read it’s data. However, RFID can be read outside the line of site. This means that RFID tags can be embedded in the object that needs to be tracked.
